How to use the Ignore User function on this web site

Every so often there is a poster whose posts you just don't want to read. You've read enough of that person's posts to decide the negative outweighs the positive and you just don't feel like dealing with it anymore, but also don't want to give up the good stuff you do read from other posters here.

When you get to that point, here is what you do.

Use the Ignore User function. How this works is you go to the offending poster's profile, click on User Lists (below the poster's profile picture if he/she has one, or just below his/her name if there is no picture), and select Add to Ignore List. When it says, "Are you sure..." click the Yes button.

The end result will be when you read a thread in which that person has posted, instead of seeing what he or she has posted, you see a line of text indicating that the message is being hidden because <user name> is on your ignore list. You are, however, able to see the entire rest of the thread.

Note that if others choose to quote that poster's messages within their replies, you will see that quote and there doesn't appear to be anything you can do about that. Hopefully, though, not being subjected to the initial post will be enough to minimize annoyance.

Hope this helps! Happy S2000 surfing!

Thanks Roseanne. Self-moderating this site looks like our best option, so I encourage people to take this measure.

Yep, from the amount of spam that stays here day after day, I'd say you're correct.

Ha!

But I'm sure I'll land on someone's ignore list at some point, if I haven't already. Not too worried about it.

Must be a troll. He's too stupid to be believable.
