S2000 driver wannabe

Hey, what's up.

I am new to this forum. I do not have an S2000 yet, but I am working on it. What should I know? My goals are 700+ hp. (Yeah, I know that's high, but I am a small block believer)

Thanks a lot.

Obviously you're going to need boost in the form of a turbo. Or drop a V8 in. You can also check out S2KI for more info.

Yeah I was thinking two turbos. How much rebuild do you think I'd have to do?

Also, what would I have to do to the tyranny? I'd want to short gear it, but what as far as making it able to withstand the horspower...

I kind of think that you are looking at the wrong kind of car for what you are after. These cars are in their element on twisty mountain roads and are outstanding in that environment. Also good to drive to work. 700hp in either of those situations doesn't make much sense. Especially on twisty mountain roads. (you end up at the bottom of a steep embankment) You should be looking at a corvette or a mustang. Both handle well, are suited to high horsepower and look pretty good whatever year they are. Well not the Mustang 2, that was pretty bad.

Could never drive muscle. (I'm a tuner fanatic) One reason I want this car is to show up my muscle car fan friends. Also, 700hp in a [email protected]!ng or ca$&ro is much less than 700hp in a car that weighs less than 2500 pounds. I want this thing to be deadly. (Aka I want to race demons for pink slips)

Let me see if I have this right. You're going to take one of the finest twisty, curvy road handling cars ever made and turn it into a 1320 foot straight line hunk of metal. Just buy an Ariel Atom if the only thing you want is light weight and high horsepower to weight ratios. If I wanted to be brutally frank, I'd say you should probably wait another 10 or 15 years before you contemplate buying anything. By then the testosterone should be under control and the decisions would be a bit more logical. I could say that, but I won't because you've saved me the trouble.
Oh, now I see one of the (many) reasons. You're in Panama City, FL. That explains a lot. Well, good luck, I guess everyone should have a dream.

KG, perhaps a little harsh but I don't disagree with the basic message.
It is not the right car to be looking at for that purpose. It will certainly cost a LOT of money to achieve the horse power goal. Likely an engine, transmission and rear end swap. Honestly, look at another car.
But on the other hand, if you do do it, ultimately there will be one less S2000 on the road, which makes my stock play thing worth even more.

Came down pretty heavy on the dude, KG, yet your premise is accurate. No argument here.

Maybe so. But, I guess whatever it takes to get some posts happening again.
I have been somewhat dormant all winter, as unfortunately I only have a 6 month year. Hoping to re-emerge next weekend weather permitting. So then may have more to share once the wheels are turning again.

Hey guys, I picked up the 2019 MX-5 with the new hopped up motor. Revs to 7500 rpm. Performance wise it's closer to the S than ever. Very refined. I got the GT model with the suspension package. Needs a little more sharper handling, but with a very few mods could easily be the new S2000.
