Tail of the Dragon Thread

One of our employees recently took his WRX to Deals gap and had a blast on the Tail of the Dragon.

Anyone have interesting stories, images or video from the Dragon? Post up your S2k or other vehicle content!

318 curves in 11 miles sounds awesome to me!

Is this going to be an S2K exclusive event or are other makes/models welcome?

We've had Subies, GT-R's, even a Mazda 3. Everyone is welcome.

Come April 12-14, it will be a lot more fun (and there'll be a lot more S2k's).

You'd be welcome even if you bring a tricycle (well, not a Can-Am), Lee.

The Spring event is always the larger one. Last year there were over 200 cars. Come on out, there's always room for one more.

As an added attraction, Billman, who is one of the best (if not the best) S2000 mechanics in the US will be doing valve adjustments, replacing TCT's, adjusting clutches and more along with Steven Baxter who will be doing paintless dent removal once again this year. (We might also have a wheel repair person who can get rid of that curb rash and refinish your wheels for you)

Question Rock the Dragon

Hey guys, just picked up my '07 SSM on Monday. Is the "Rock the Dragon" meet still going on next April? What is going on throughout that weekend?

Here you go. Registration opens 12/31/14:

RtD starts April 9th (Thursday) and ends on April 12th (Sunday). A tentative itinerary is included below (a complete detailed itinerary will be emailed to you before the event).

DRIVER REGISTRATION: $60

QUICK ITINERARY (all events subject to change via whim, weather or circumstance)

Thursday, April 9 - Meet the OKI Group, Dinner TBD. Head to Maryville in a somewhat spirited drive across the dragon and the Parkway to meet the OKI group. Once we get together, we'll head in a group to TBD for dinner. After dinner, we'll split into the newbies and the experienced group and do a night drive across the Dragon.

<other events>

Friday, April 10th - Lots of Dragon driving. Be sure to check out the surrounding roads for a great time. Most people arrive today but you are always welcome to arrive earlier. Plan to attend the Registration gathering which will be held at the ball field in the evening. Along with great food and friends, you can pick up your registration packet. The registration packet includes your event credentials. Be sure to wear your name tag to join in (this will serve as your MEAL pass for Friday and Saturday night and admission to all activities). Lots of great times and food to be had.

There will be an early registration and "First Timer's Orientation" and "Dragon Buddy" ride-along on Friday morning. Check the final itinerary for exact time and meeting location. If this is your first Dragon event, you are strongly encouraged to join in and meet some other first timers and learn tips on driving your S2000 on the Dragon. Various group drives will also be available during the day on Friday; most of which include a stop for lunch along the way. Friday night is the Cookout on the ball field. There will be lots of good food and great friends. Come early to renew old friendships and make new ones.

<other events>

Saturday, April 11th - The MONSTER ROLLOUT - The official "DAY" of the event. We'll roll out from Fontana as a large S2000 group - a great way for video lovers and those wanting pics of all the gathered S2000s to fill those memory cards. Dragon driving...and lots of it is on the agenda. We'll have a group photo at the end of the Dragon, and then you can check out a variety of Group Drives (these will be organized drives on various roads surrounding the Dragon) that will offer lunch options. If you choose not to do any of the drives, you are welcome to continue driving the Dragon, explore the area on your own or go back to relax at the lodge. Dinner will be served in the Rec Hall below Fontana Village Lodge. We'll enjoy dinner with a recap of our event and a presentation to follow. Following the banquet, we'll meet at the Gunner Cabin Fire Pit and rehash the weekend.

<other events>

Sunday, April 12th - Say goodbye to fellow S2000 enthusiasts. Some folks will be driving the Dragon, but the majority will be leaving on this day.

We look forward to seeing you on the Dragon!
