July Drive - Sat July 24

Looking to get back on the twisties to get re-aquainted with my S. Probably going to do the normal route up to Julian for breakfast.

If people want to try a new road, we could head down the 78/67 into Ramona and then take Highland Valley Road West all the way to the 15. It drops you off around the 56 and the 15, but it is a great road.

Meeting point will be Deer Springs Rd off the 15 at 7 AM.

If work doesn't have me pulling my hair out the Friday night before, I'll be up for this.

Vinny,
Just a little heads up...Yesterday while on the 76, I saw a massive CHP presence. I have never seen so much CHP going up & down that road with radar hiding along the roadways and bushes. Enjoy the drive, but have eyes in the back & side of your head for what it is worth.

This seems to be the case all over the state. We were out in the Bay area this past weekend and it appears the Governor is trying to reduce the deficit by handing out speeding tickets. Great and heartfelt thanks to Rocky Mountain Radar for keeping those menacing freeloaders away from me.

Hey Mike, thanks for the heads up. The good thing is that we don't speed on the 76. Rarely do I go above 65 because it is a main road. The side roads are where I turn it up. I will probably take it easy on Palomar because it is the most well known spot so I'll have my fun on Couser Canyon and Wynola Rd.

Sacramento seems free and clear these days, must be since they are concentrated in LA and SF right now. Come on up!

GREAT drive today. Weather was perfect. There were 4 of us, Morgan from S2000.com and 2 guys from S2KCA.

Did not see one sheriff or CHP all the way up to Julian. Coming back was a different story. Returned to Palomar after breakfast at about 11:15 and saw 1 sheriff and 4 CHP just on East & South Grade alone. Probably going to skip there on return trips in the future. I wound up just coasting in 3rd gear all the way down South Grade.

Sounds like it was fun. Bummer I missed it, but there is just no way I can make the 7am times unless I stay over the night before locally. Not complaining... just saying. And since I was working late I couldn't drive down Friday night.
