Diff for racing

Is a CT diff housing or a Puddymod diff a necesity for my race car? Car is still running a basically stock motor... but is running on slicks and pillowbal suspension and custom shocks.

I am about to install a 4.77 gear and OS Giken limited slip but wanted to know if you thought the diff housing was critical as well? Don't want to spend all this money only to break the diff.

You should be okay with either diff (or with the stock one as well). All depends on what you want to do. If you go to FI, you might want to talk to CT or Puddy-Mod. I ran a 4.77 with a CT cryo'd and never had any problems.

No Forced induction. This is for my SCCA E Production road race car. We are very limited on what we can do to make more power, so no huge increases will ever be seen. Just trying to see if I can save a few bucks and not buy a new housing. Just trying to see if an improved housing is absolutely necessary for a full time race car.

P.S I'll have the car at Mid-Ohio later this year.

I spoke to evasive for the same situation before. CT housing is enough for NA. of course, they also recommend to get their differential cover which is selling by them.
