My wife has been looking at these lately. Her DD is our MK2 GTI, but she's looking to move into something a little less "retro".

I welcome the change, but would sell a kidney before I sold our little black MK2.

Can't see the video at work, but if Honda dropped the K20 from the Civic SI into the CRZ..........I may be standing in line to get one.

Forgive my total ignorance, but are we comparing apples to apples? The main reason I purchased my 03 S was because it was a 2 seat, convertible that has a lot of GO!
That is a pretty nice car there, but is 180 from where I was coming from when I purchased my Stewie! ............What is it about the CR? Is there a relationship between these two vehicles, beyond speed and handling?

Please "Explain me dis Lucy?"

It goes like this: the CR-Z is a hybrid gasoline/electric 2 seater built by Honda. The CR-Z racer is built by Honda Performance Development as a one off racecar, showing us how much performance they can stuff into a hybrid car. To further muddy the waters, Honda also gave us the S2000 CR. But I'm sure you already know about the S2000 CR. There is no relationship between the S2000 and CR-Z, other than they are both 2 seaters built by Honda.

Was there much competition?

It has nice clean lines and the front end is cute. I think the backend could be redone. Too much like a prius/insight.

The back looks like a '80s CR-X!

From Road and Track, the new CRZ 6 spd does 0-60 in 8.4 sec, quarter mile in 16.4 secs @ 84 mph and corners at .84 g's. A non SI CRX did 0-60 in 10.5 and cornered at .82 g's. Both get mpg's in the 30's. More things change the more they stay the same.

Except that the CR-Z has to do it carrying 1000 more pounds worth of safety equipment and such.

BTW- I have been getting 43 MPG in mine.

20 years later, there are still a number of CRX on the roads.

20 years from now, I would expect most of the CRZ to have been crushed, along with their hybrid brethren from the dark days of the automobile industry.

The front end looks a bit like an Audi, doesn't it?

The back end just wishes it looks as good as the mid 80s CRX. The CRX was no S2000 but it was at least a clean design.

I test drove one the other day. Very impressive. Would be an excellent daily driver. The one I drove was fully loaded and I think is was somewhere around $23k

Bringing this post back, as Honda decided to let HPD release this as an aftermarket factory kit with warranty. Probably too expensive, but it makes one wonder if they will do more of this in the future.

I have a chance to ride in a supercharged CR-Z, very fun especially when the IMA kicks in with the supercharger. I like the idea of Honda giving a 3yr.-36k warranty on the kit, I heard it was around $6500 with the install.

I just read a mini test on this in Autoweek this afternoon. I agree with someone who wrote it is an apples to oranges comparision and on top of that with the SC added we are still talking 50hp less than Stewie. Just think of taking the 6500.00 and using that for our cars..........Still, nice looking car.
