looks like a nice ride for those cold frozen days in the great white north.

i bought an '83 volvo DL20 brand spanking new in january of 1983. it was a beautiful car when new. ruby red was the color with a tan interior. 4-cylinder, 107 HP, 4-speed with electric overdrive. i paid $12,200 which is about $29,000 in today's dollars. it had a 12,000 mile warranty.

it was slow but a big step up from a VW bug. it would do 100 mph. every time i took it to the volvo shop it cost at least $100. old ruby loved water pumps and went through 3 or four. the electric OD was always going out. the ODO stopped at 145,000 and i drove her several years after that, until '96 or so. i finally gave her away and bought a used oldsmobile--that was a big mistake.

i swore off on volvos and used cars after that and turned japanese.

300 HP and 300 foot-pounds of tork should get you where you want to go in a hurry.

Dang, your idea of a beater and mine are obviously not in the same ballpark.

Volvo's peak of reliability was early 80's up to 97 , my 06 quite complicated and known to have many common issues but im the exact type of owner needed to care for a 10yr old R

wow, we had a 2006 s60 as well. Except ours was blue and was a auto. My wife loved that car. But she really wanted a 4x truck.

Back in the 70's my father in law had a 240, darn nice car with the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in in a car, they were like recliners.

I love the P1800 coupe, nearly bought one instead of the S a few years ago.

So jealous over here, the S60R and the S70R would make for the perfect second car to an S2000, especially here in the New England, I love those things!

Tacoma is better. Was, if not still, the vehicle with the highest resale value of ALL vehicles. Bullet proof. I have a 2002 and all I do is put tires on it and Mobil 1 for oil changes. (Yes I do all the fluids too) Absolutely nothing has happened mechanically to the thing. Amazing. Manual trans.

Be sure to check the date on threads. Most but not all, of the posters above are still around.
