To the Daily Driven S2000s

To those who drive their S2000 daily, approximately how many miles do you rack up in a day? This doesn't need to be measured to the mile, however my unrelenting work day has yielded me 6 hours of driving in traffic and 110 miles.....and I am only HALF way done........This job is going to force me to sell the S..

Anyways, interested in hearing where the median mileage falls for Daily driven S2000s

Typical work week out of school: 35 / day
Typical work week in school: 55/day
Avg. since I picked up the car: 48/day

How many miles are currently on your S?

I have almost 101K on clock; if i got your job I w/ my mileage- I would just run w/ it. But that's just me...

I hammered out 104+ miles per day or more for 15 months plus the trips around the Hill country, Mississippi, Waxahachie (Wife's Ghost Hunting stuff.)
So all in all I knocked out 40k miles in 15 months. I know I had thousand mile plus weekends and lots of thousand mile + weeks.
It was such nice weather that I drove it all last week. Man, I do miss driving it when the weather is nice, even in traffic and I got 305 miles out of 10 gallons.
I just shifted a little earlier and accelerated more smoothly aka slowly but I was not hyper mile-ing damn that is hard to take day in and day out.
I drove 65-70 top down with a big smile.
F-traffic I'm in a S with the top dropped, some good tunes a cool hat that puffs out my "Hebrew knap" (apparently Jew fro is offensive) and accentuates the ever growing silver streaks on the side of it.
The downside is the wear and tear on the drive-line that is the only real reason I stopped driving it during the week, well that and all the rain.

Get a freaking Protege or used Civic and beat the sh#t out it during the week. Then love the quality time you and your S get to spend together on the weekends.

DAMN: My average per week mileage was 666 oh deary me!

LOL nice responses....yea my hair does sort of a "jew Fro" as well yash...And I would love to get a seperate turd car for my daily needs, considering I haul chemicals now and my driving is primarily involving traffic and red light after red light. The top was down today and my face is reddddd haha. I say worth it, but the actual driving and traffic and stop and go...it is agonizing....As mentioned in another post, I don't drive the car like I ought to but I am limited with my time and money to track etc. etc. No matter what I do, I will own another sports car (later in life) for sure, but I wouldn't mind getting another S2000 when I have the means to own two vehicles.

My driving is just literally stop and go....in traffic nonetheless....Furthermore the real issue I have is that my routes are on horrible, HORRIBLE roads....I laugh at how fortunate I was to raise my car back up before I started because I truly had no idea how bad the roads were/are. The funny thing is that my daily work commute is the perfect storm for a hated drive....constant stop and go at lights, horrible road conditions, and even in traffic while stuck between cars I get some Dip$hit revving his slammed ghetto civic with no exhaust that he thinks sounds sweet so he revs it at stop lights.....I am hated it all...

I bought my car in September with just over 101k miles and now it just passed 111,111 miles(i took a picture of course). I rack up a lot of miles from driving to school every day(30/35 miles round trip) but I just graduated this week though and the car has to stay home when I go off to college so it won't see much use. I'm sad I can't bring it with me but I have the whole summer and it's probably better letting it sit where nothing can happen to it.

I would guess I rack up about 10 miles a day average, during the week. On weekends it is about 300+

The only issue is that there really aren't many other routes to where I am going and the ones available are all through traffic and only differ by a minute at best. I really don't have the means to buy and insure another vehicle right now either. Ended up at just under 200miles for the day which as mentioned above a lot being conducted in stop and go on the roads, blah blah

Put about 9K on it in 2 years and 2 months. Spends most the winter in the garage. It's Monday and I don't feel like doing math.....

I drive the s2k about twice a week to and from work for a total of about 120 miles / week, I rarely drive it on the Weekends, cause of the 3 kids, that's when the odyssey comes in handy

I probably drive on average about 20-30 miles a day. A lot of days I do a lot more running around than that though.

Anyway, Question to the OP. So your job is a driving one that requires you to carry chemicals? Is your company paying you mileage? Why arent they providing a car? I think that any company that doesnt pay adequate mileage or provide a car isnt worth driving for.....Just my two cents.

About 12 miles total - when I first bought it I was going about 60 miles a day but since moving to Houston I'm a bit closer to work. 31K in 3 years - 3 year anniversary is May 28th. Lucky it alternates with my truck so the miles didn't build up too fast.

100 miles round-trip for work but I split it between the two cars.

We put 15,000 miles on it in the first year of ownership that's 41 miles a day.

I have 13.9k miles on my 08. My work commute is 10 miles per day. But I have a dd civic, so the S only comes out on weekends.

About 24 per day over the last 7 months, but it was outta commission for about a month, so it's really closer to ~28 per day. The drive to work is 4-5 miles, but I go get food during work, I take quick drives while at work to wake up/find some joy in my day, I go play tennis often, go downtown... yeah, it adds up. I should make my g/f drive on the mundane trips, but 1) I hate riding in the passenger seat 2) she's a terrifying driver 3) I love my S too much to leave it dormant when I can help it.

Clearly, I need to get my own beater. I'll probably wait 'til this coming winter, though.

Well I don't want this thread to end but I do want to say I have traded in the S2000. My 2000 with scuffs and bumper damage from being too low, aftermarket parts, etc. was traded in for 8k...could have been worse, could have been better. I now have a highly optioned 2011 Kia Optima...=FAIL lol. But the car made sense due to their aggressive tactic to sell the 2011s and my credit is great now so it is cheaper for a brand new car (that also has gap coverage/the S did not) than the S. I plan on getting another sports car later, honestly probably another S...I always felt like the one I had was a dud honestly.... But at the dealership I kept laughing that they made a sporty version of a Kia Optima lol....turbo FWD lol....awesome for a huge four door haha. But this car now means I can have another sports car later.

ya thanks....I mean, I loved the car and when it was new to me it ran hot. I loved the feel completely throughout ownership but it seemed the more miles I did the more things became astranged....the clutch pedal was floppy at the first inch or so of travel...I adjusted the 12mm nut according to Billman on s2ki and the play was still present...the motor didn't seem like it pulled as hard...the soft tops plastic rear window was in need of replacing, although no holes. So coming from a car that was pretty stiff riding (which I liked), had little to no options from the factory (which it was meant to and I also liked), into a car with options that is smooth riding is not so bad...I am really sad though still. I want to get into a glass rear window S later in life and do a compression/leakdown test before buying.

Those Optimas are sharp looking cars. Post up some pics. So did you get the turbo model? I am mad that my WRX has 265hp and turbo kias have 274. WTF? And they get 22/34mpg! GRRR.

Gadget, your top is not the original top then...MY2000 has plastic rear windows :/

And Marioshi actually the entire time I was at the dealership I was frustrated haha...My S was worth, in its own way, more than their cars...and it actually made me mad they have a "sporty" optima with a turbo..but for the price of that one anyway I would be lookin at a base model Mustang GT. They are good looking cars though and they have tons of additional options. I kept saying to myself, "it is a freaking kia?! Why would they make a sporty version of a kia lol."

And I really did want the panoramic sunroof but the lot did not have any that werent their "sporty" model...I honestly would be mad at myself for owning that lol....used C6 vettes run at 30s..
