muffler ideas??

Evenin,

I own a 05 s2k...bone stock other than a k&n intake. The intake gives a great deep sound at open throttle, but still looking for a little more. I don't want raspy, ricey sound...looking for something that will give a deep growl with little to no drone...if possible. the local muffler shop tells me to go with some magnaflow mufflers...simply hack off the stock and weld on the mags and keep the stock tips. any thoughts on magnaflow mufflers on the s? Any input is appreciated!

I have the Magnaflow set up on mine. Like it just fine. I have the catback system and had to modify them inorder to get the tips to exit correctly. Still totL investment was under 750.00. I kept the stock and change back and forth when I want it back to stock. Then back to the magnaflow when I want it with a med..deep tone. Takea me 45min to change it from one way to the other.

Well Dude, I don't like the idea of HACKIN' and WELDIN' the mufflers in. Will's got the right idea with the Magna Flow Cat-Back set up.

Find a video or audio of the UK exhaust mod. You may want to do a UK exhaust mod after you hear it.

S2000SNV where do you live? I thinking about doing the UK Mod on my stock exhaust. So I may let my MangaFlow go.

LOVE my UK mod. Check out both my posts and Apex's in the engine mod section. I bought a used system from a guy for 100 bucks, did the work myself since I have a Mig welder, total cost: 106.00. Best part is zero droning at speed, it only alters the sound when you accelerate, when cruising you can't tell it is there.

that UK mod sounds amazing. I don't exactly have the tools necessary to do it myself...what exactly does it consist of. if I take to a local muffler shop, what would I tell them to do?

I think it was Apex that posted a how to video in the eng mod section that shows it being done. Basically what you are doing is taking part of the exhaust pressure and diverting it past the mufflers main baffle to the pass through pipe that goes straight thru the muffler. I used a 1" pipe but I may in the future pull the system off, cut out the bypass and go up to 1.25 size pipe. After all, we are talking maybe 8 bucks for the pipe and my labor. The video shows the job done with a Tig welder but can be done with a Mig. The secret to a good job is to get the bypass as close as possible to a perfect fit where it meets the pipe before you weld. Then it is a simple weld up job.
You can also go to YouTube, type in "S2000 UK Mod" and you will get several videos.
