I am just stunned.
My prayers for him and his family.
Cosmo, I had the same relationship with John, man, what a great guy. This just freakin sucks so bad. I feel like I have lost a relative.

Does anyone know where JJ is buried? I'm on the East Coast now but was unable to pay my respects at the funeral. Was hoping to maybe say goodbye to him before going back to Cali.

I just went back and checked my email log. I got an e-mail from John at 10:51 Friday evening and he was his typical bright, cheery self. I had seen the movie Capt. Phillips that day and John and I had been trading comments about Somalia, pirates, and un-politically correct things in general. Damn.

Does anyone know how he died?? Was it a heart attack?? This came out of nowhere.

I believe he was cremated Chaz.

Yes, it was a heart attack. His wife called me Monday to make sure that I knew about his death.

My biggest suprise is when I met him in the first time and expected him to talk the way he types. Was not the case.

Oh my gosh, this is so shocking and sad. I like so many others here stayed at this forum mostly because of Jack. I don't post like I used to, but I still come around and check on things all the time. We occasionally emailed, now I am wishing more often but he was my favorite 'online buddy' I've ever had...

This forum and community, and everyone who knew him has lost a huge and wonderful person. My heartfely condolences to everyone here and his family...

I started this thread for Jack, I knew he liked planes and wouldn't mind seeing some more. https://www.s2000.com/forums/off-top...ii-planes.html

I think we need to rename a forum after him in his honor. I had a very special and close relationship with JJ away from here. It has become obvious many other had also, however, he always made me feel special. I'm sure you all know what I mean!

I don't know who's "Spiritual" or who's not around these parts, but I can't help but feel even closer to him. It was like he was with me all day yesterday. While I am very sad, I feel blessed beyond my wildest dreams, to have shared this small portion of his life with him. I had a smile on my face all day yesterday. What an honor. Thanks again JJ!

I agree, for starters PLEASE leave him as a Top Poster on the board. I couldn't think of not seeing him there. Although there was a time when someone hacked in here and put their name up, can we prevent this?

I'm not sure if this can be done. I will try and contact some of the admin to see what we can do.

Java was, without a doubt, one of the most colorful people Ive met through my time working on the forums. He was a great guy, a great moderator and a great member of the S2000 community.

RIP Jack.

Im looking into what I can do to keep his spirit alive on the forum.

So Ive already spoken with Switchblade about this, but I have changed Java's post count to read 1 million...pretty much guaranteeing that he will always be our top poster. Also, the "Just Drivin'" section has been renamed Java's Just Drivin' as a memorial.

From a Marine brother and fellow Vietnam vet, I'll set out the little known lyrics of the tune commonly known as "Taps".

Day is done, gone the sun

From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.

Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know

God is nigh.

Thanks for the thoughts and considerations that you planted in my mind.

Has anyone (Chaz) informed Roseanne (RMurphy) yet? They didn't quite see eye to eye just before she left, but she should be given the news.

I posted the obit on S2KI forum under Talk, so I imagine she has seen it. It seems like she is pretty much on top of stuff posted there.

Wow. I'm so sad. Even crying. I haven't been on this site in weeks and I come to find this. Though Jack and I never met, we've emailed each other and talked at length on the phone. RIP JJ, you are missed by many. You made this site a better place. I'd post a pic of my Speedo, but I know how much you hate that. I hope there's plenty of spin-out room in heaven.

that's a really nice sentiment, Jimbo.
I took this pick of Java over the Hudson river in the old bi-plane.
Lots of spin out room.
