finally an s2k!

sup guys, finally just picked up my 2005 ap2 berlina black with black interior, 35 k miles on her. Love it, big time honda guy, but still had couple questions.

first off, my previous cars were 99 em1 si, then 05 v6 6 speed accord, 08 civic si (i/h/e flashpro tuned), then a 2011 mazdaspeed 3, (i/e/dp e85 tune).

I already have a set of blizzaks from my mazda, which i will attempt to DD the s2k, if not i will have to purchase a beater since im in chicago.

first off, just wanted to know how prone are the ap2's to getting stolen and what are some good ways to prevent them from getting stolen, i dont have garage.

second, as far as mods, i plan on doing ebay cai with a aem filter, some type of single exit exhaust, clutch delay valve delete along with stainless steel clutch line, and 4.77 FD.

third, is it normal to notice the clutch delay valve that much, i literally cant chirp third which should def be able to happen.

last but not least any tips on what to keep an eye out for? car is all stock, seems like it was well taken care of

Welcome, post pics or it never happened.

1 - very prone. Big dog, alarm, Big gun.
2 - 4.77 a bit high, unless you don't mind rowing.
3 - have no idea...i can chirp it in 3rd.

Welcome to the site!

Lots of people run 4.77s on their AP2. Personally if I had an AP2 I would get 4.44s.

I actually have 4.44s on my AP1, but I chose them with the intention of getting a AP2 tranny.

Welcome to the S community! I looked into the theft issue, mine is an 09. The theft rate is between just over 2/1000 vehicles for the S. I had recently read of two thefts, one in the NW the other in FL. Thats it for the year! As you may know there are not a whole lot of these things around (especially later years) so I am not sure the black market parts division sees a real demand for these cars. If it is out on the street however, you are at risk IMO. You can do the lojack deal. The great thing about that is you can find your car before it is shipped or dismantled. You need to check where you live. In my case I am on the edge of a non covered county. I obviously drive in the covered areas from time to time but I have never left my beast out over night. I am still considering Lo jack for peace of mind.
If you have invested in some after market wheels you should have locking nuts on those. In addition the seats seem to be in high demand. I leave my car unlocked so no one will destroy the top looking for some non existent valuable left in the car.

its the only pic i got at the moment.

btw thanks for the help guys. I knew the ap1 would get stolen often, i wasn't aware the ap2 are also prone to getting stolen.

If i leave her stock (at least exterior wise), do u guys still think it has a high chance of getting stolen? the way i see it is if ur gonna steal one might as well steal one with aftermarket **** on it to sell. Im not worried about getting it stolen from my condo, cuz even though its not garaged, i have 05 civic thats behind it, i will be getting a viper alarm ASAP. and obviously full coverage just in case, although i think i will commit suicide if it got stolen cuz i love her so much lol.

Last question is, i do intend on putting some blizzakks on it and rocking it through the winter. No im not talking about through heavy snowfall, but def snow. Do the softtops get chewed up and ripped if i keep it outside throughout the winter, or should i invest in hard top asap. Thanks again for help guys

Welcome you may want to consider the following!

Other Security Measures to Consider:

1. Silent paging alarm system - forget sirens and flashing lights

2. Two hidden kill switches

3. Metric carraige bolts for rear mounting points

4. GPS tracking for seats & hardtop (if you have one)

5. Jammer proof GPS tracking

6. Generic warning stickers. Never tell a thief what kind of security system you have, it only assists a tech savvy thief in beating it faster.

7. Hardtop locks for the catchers and strikers (if you get one)

8. Etch last 6 digits of VIN in 4 places on hardtop glass. (if you get one)
Document with photos.

9. Engrave your VIN in at least 4 locations number/letters on your seats metal components prior to locking them down. Document with photos.

10. Handgun of your choice

11. Mossberg JIC 500

Car looks clean! As far as your top goes...they are pretty sturdy. I DD mine year round...but we really don't get any snow in eastern NC. S2kx2 gave some really good suggestions to help eliminate the possibility of theft....but if it going to happen, it is going to happen...do what you can to deter and drive it like you stole it!

At the emd of the day they do get stolen, but i think id still be more worried if i had an evo

Any noticeable gains from a racepipe? Safe to run on stock tune?

A test pipe really sharpens up the throttle and it makes the exhaust have a bit more sound. Thats all I can confirm.

Depending on where you live, it could cost you $10k and have your car impounded. It also stinks, pollutes and in general is obnoxious. There's a reason it's called a TEST pipe.
