Wink New to Honda! S2000

So, where to start. Originally I am an all German car owner. First car was an Audi A6, second car was a BMW 740iL, and current is a BMW 5-Series. All V8 sedans. Reliability, Audi was crap. 740iL was a lot better. And the 5-Series is absolute hell. Why did I stick with it? Cause its fast, handles great, and its got soul. Love them. BUT Im done.. I can not stand fixing anymore. My 5-Series doesn't go 2-weeks without a disabling issue that leaves me stranded. I rebuilt the motor, replaced entire cooling, clutch kit, entire driveline.. and she still needs new struts, control arms, and so on.

So I decided enough is enough. School will be starting in a few and I need a reliable car that gets decent to good gas mileage that also handles and looks great. Sound familiar? Yeah I'm talking about the S2000. I just picked up a 2001 S2000 with 96K miles from auction for $ 5250.00 with bumper damage. Checked out perfect. Not even the condenser was touched. Although I am wondering about the sunroof as it doesn't completely shut (with the clamps) the sunroof opens and closes just fine, but when I clamp it down from inside there is space as the roof doesn't seal down. Otherwise, I am so happy. It runs so nice, although it does have exhaust and intake that I do not want so OEM is where its going. I'll post some pics tomorrow!

Welcome AZ, What a find! It sounds like you may require a striker (latch) shim kit. You can find these using google/ebay. This will make that area tighter. I was going to order a set for mine but ended up replacing my top fabric which resolved the issue suprisingly enough. This may be due to replacement of vinyl top with fabric- not sure. In any case, good luck w/ issue and be glad it is nothing worse.

I'm w/ the stig- post up some pics when you get a chance!
