First thing I noticed...

Hello All,

I picked up a silver '00 s2k about a month ago and finally got around to creating an account on this forum. Anyway, the first thing I noticed with this car is that everyone wants to race me...I have never had this happen to the extent that it does. I regularly have 2-3 people try to challenge me if it is a 5 mile or more drive. A lot of other people will rev and do other things if they are going the other direction.

I just dont get it...I am not new to speed...have an 06 mustang GT ....an 09 G37 coupe with some nice mods....and I have owned 3 sportbikes....never have I gotten so much unwanted attention its really odd...just felt like sharing that as I just dont get what it is with this car

Anyway I love driving it and after some new tires and servicing I am looking at getting a mugen hardtop and a J's 70 RR exhaust for it

-Sean

GTF, I guess we all get that from time to time. I think since the there are not so many S's around? who knows. I had an old dude in a mini van want to race me from a light just this morning.

Welcome to the site, I must look old and slow as I don't get challenged very often!

I've seen other people post this before. I guess because the engine revs when you drive, people are attracted to this and don't really know about the car.

I do get honks when I drive the car, but not when driving the Accord, so it's not me, and even with tons of MB, BMW, Porsche, etc... convertibles around here (I think some people stop noticing them).

I get the race nod every once in a while. Just Friday night a kid in a Mitsubishi Eclipse did all kinds of stuff to get my attn for a drag up 474/23 in Toledo. 1st, I had my wife in the car. Drag race not a good option right there. 2nd, we were in a prime speed trap zone. I let him go with a wave. He took off pretty fast. I assume he felt pretty good about leaving us in his dust. Saw him again 2 miles later talking to a State Trooper.

Weird. People stay away from mine. They even park far from me.

I get it all the time, especially from kids in "riced out" imports. They rev up those farts cans like I should be impressed. I even had a boy in Moms Smart Car want to race.

Of course it doesn't help that my plates read PASSN U, that seems to stir them up. When I pass one on the highway, they always feel the need to rev up and they can't resist flying by. And then I honk and wave when I see them pulled over down the road.

Welcome!

There are many S2000's on the west coast so they don't attract as much attention IMHO. Well not if you keep your S looking stock. There are lots of them decked out in carbon fiber with really loud exausts that attract attention but I think the stock cars run under the radar most of the time. But then again, I left for work the other day after my son walked up to his gradeshool bus stop. When I left the house I pulled up next to him, said goodbye, and drove away. All the kids at the bus stop stared at the car all the way down the street as I drove off. I felt like I was in highschool again. Hahaha

I get loads of looks but not so much people trying to race me, i think the looks are more at the gigantic whale tail i have on my car and everyone around my parts are rednecks, young punks and retired people so they all hate on it.

I get the occasional youngster that wants a drag race, but I just laugh and wave them off.

I had a guy in a Audi A4 want to "race" from a stoplight. I told him it would be a waste of my time and his and I couldn't see any reason to make him feel worse than he already did. The light changed; he slunk off quietly.
