S660

Could this car make it here as a possible S2000 replacement? I'm not feeling the fairings behind the roll hoops and we definitely would need a bigger, more powerful engine. The interior looks sporty car friendly and mid engine, rear drive.........hmmmmmmmmmm

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person.

I used to own a Honda N600 and we had a Z600 and S600 at the dealership. I actually thought about tracking down a Honda Beat but gave up thinking about the parts nightmare I might have.

It looks good when you consider what it would be comparable to in the US market...a Smart car. I'd buy it for $14k, but not likely if it's priced closer to $20k. I think it would be fun car to toss around and commute to work in.

I'm curious why Honda would use a 660cc 3 cylinder when they have a 600cc inline 4 that puts out 100hp and has a 13k redline.

EDIT: I would consider this a little brother of the s2000, not a replacement but a companion...

But isn't that the genesis of the S2000. It started as a S600 then became the S800 and eventually morphed into the S2000. So hang on fans it's coming!!!

There is no replacement for the S2000 in my opinion. Three may one day be a successor but the rawness of the S2000 will not be seen again. Ever.

As I was driving home today, the thought occurred to me that subtlety and S2000 cannot be used in the same sentence. It has a refined rawness (if that's possible).

Only in name maybe, because it's more of a direct descendent of the Honda Beat more than any other car.

Well, I just find myself reading that and being annoyed. Number one: UK S2K owners WTF?? They probably want a diesel hybrid. What about polling U.S. owners why I bet we outnumber UK owners 5 to 1. If the new S2k is supposed to be a sports car then why detune a motor from a Civic?? Let me have the full 300 ponies.

No as someone said above, there is not likely to be a car that will ever come from Honda to rival its own S2000

I was thinking about the comment on the chassis:

"the S2000 could be relatively expensive for Honda if it decides to develop the chassis on its own instead of partnering up with another automaker."

I am not in the auto business but if the original chassis was so very good, why not resurrect that? Is it a matter of once production stops, you might as well come up with something new?
