Spring Break, Hwy 1 Marin to Westport

Headed out with my wife and the S for a four day road trip on the California coast. Started out on Hwy 1 in Marin north of San Francisco and took the Panoramic Highway to the top of Mt Tamaipais. On to Stinson Beach and Point Reyes National Seashore. Stayed one night at the Coast Guard base in Petaluma. On up 1 past Ft Bragg to Westport. Stayed there at the Westport Hotel and made day trips on Hwy 1 through great redwood forests. Could not believe the lack of traffic. On some twisty roads were you could see ahead I got the same feeling driving back and forth as if I was downhill skiing. Little rain for a couple of hours one day, the rest was a little foggy or sunny. Sorry for the bad weather in the east. Thank God for California (geography that is) This car was made for this.

My first Spring Break with the S2000 back in 2002, we drive up and down Highway 1 for three days.

Idaho has some pretty nice drives. I have been going there for the past couple of years for a week or so in the summer.

As a side note, here are some pics of St Peter's chapel on Mare Island near Vallejo CA. This century old Navy chapel has the largest (25) collection of Tiffany windows east of the Mississippi. I was over an hour in there and it was not enough time. I have seen alot of stained glass in Europe but this was the best, absolutely spectacular. A must stop on a driving trip. Call ahead for the $4 tour.
