2January/No Snow Here, Road Trip Time!

Still trying to figure out why some park their Ss for the winter. Lots of fun places to go with the top down. This is north of 'Hangtown' (Placerville) CA. Mosquito and Rock Creek Rds.

I guess because some people live where it gets actually cold and snows a lot???

El Dorado Hills isnt exactly snow country @ 764 feet elevations

I finally got my S2000 back out on the road after a few week long hiatus (needed a new o2 sensor, ordered the wrong one, the right one took forever to get here due to holidays) and it feels great to have the top down again. Gotta admit though, the last couple days it was below 30 when I left for work and I didnt drop the top.

Getting old I guess (flamesuit on).

Placerville's about 2500 to 3000 ft. I was there for Christmas. Rained like crazy on the 25th while I was driving back home on 50. Mario, you'll need that flame suit to keep you warm.

Yeah, placerville aint snow country neither, it does snow there but not enough to put a stewie away for sure. Has it dropped below 50 in oakland yet?

Just to prove we really do get snow here, well, at least sometimes. This snow hit Nov of 2009. School was closed for 3 days. Broke all kinds of branches; our plants are not used to this stuff. Elevation here is 1100'. When we want to see snow, we head for an hour up the Sierras. At least with California, no salt is used, only sand.

You should check out the twisties closer to home sometime, they are less scenic but there are some great roads in Amador county and good wine tasting to boot (read free).

Could not agree more with you! I left out the part about stopping by Boeger for wine after crossing the bridge on Mosquito Rd.
The Mormon Immigrant Trail from Jenkins Lake (Kyburz) to Silver Lake is one of our favorites, even if it is not maintained in the winter. Great drive to/from Georgetown, Coloma, Plymouth, Volcano, and the list goes on and on. Two lane scenery heaven. Throw in the passes (Sonora Pass/ Tioga) and we are done. World class.
