No need to fret quite yet Cos. The wettest months in Sacramento are January and February. March can be pretty wet too.

Calendar year totals aren't as important as "Season" totals so I would say lets "wait and see" before we hit the mass panic button. I guess residents in Folsom are already having to cut back though. Oh well, their lawns were too damn green anyway.

Every period of a dry spell like this has never had > 45% rain total of normal for the year. You can slice and dice it anyway you want: season total, calendar year, fiscal year, Roman year. A dry lake is a dry lake. No snow is dirt. Like they say on Wall Street: the past may not be a good predictor of the future. In this case the bet is on. There is no snow in Soda Springs.

You should go for a walk to Folsom Lake. Pretty interesting and depressing at the same time. Like looking at some car crashes.

This weekend I took the gal and headed for San Francisco to visit museums and family. Stayed at Hamilton Coast Guard Quarters and then at Moffett Field. Great top down weather!
Saw another yellow S (his top was up) near the park and said hi.

Had a brief conversation with an older gentleman early Sunday Morning and he was complaining bitterly about the cold. (I did have a fleece pullover) I told him it was worse elsewhere but he did not care; said how brutal the cold car was in the morning. He had to "dress" for the chill in the morning and even (drum roll) had to deal with frost on the windshield. He was dead serious. Cracked me up; died in the wool Bay Area resident! Thank God I did not have to deal with the specter of some frost on the windshield.
