I don't think we are talking about cruising at 60 mph in third gear for thousands of miles, we are talking about accelerating to near redline, until reaching cruising speed then shifting to 6th gear. That's only a few extra hundred revolutions each time. That is not worse than driving with the car bogged down, unburnt fuel draining down the cylinder walls diluting the oil.

unmolested and unabused, an S engine will last a very long time......easy to not molest, hard to not abuse.
