Reverse Speed

I noticed that the speedo reads mph when you go in reverse. What's anyone's top speed and have you hit vtec in reverse?

Probably not great on the driveline unless you get off the gas and on the clutch before you hit redline.

I'd like to try it but probably need a big parking lot with plenty of spin-out room and no light poles.

There are plenty of youtube videos of people doing it....but I don't see much point.

But yes, a large empty area would be a good idea, lol!

Yeah, I'll try it at the S2000 Homecoming this weekend and be the first to get kicked out.

On second thought, I think maybe I won't.

Funny story about this. One time back in high school, I bullied my best friend into cutting class and heisting his dad's cherished S2000 for a day of childhood mischief & shenanigans. We had a really great time, but we had an unfortunate incident with a valet parking crew, and at the end of the day, we ended up with WAYYY too many extra miles on the S. His dad would notice for sure, and we'd be dead!

My idea: jack up the rear and spin the car in reverse to unclock the miles off it. Well, low & behold...those pesky Honda engineers must have thought of this, and made it impossible, so - my idea wasn't working. My friend kinda threw a panic fit, and eventually came to realize that his dad loved the S more than his own son. This wasn't right, so we decided to just tell his dad the whole truth, and take things from there, as men. Everything was going to be alright. Well, just at that instant, the S fell off the jack, and Vtec'd it's way out the back of their elevated garage and into the ravine below. It was totally totalled.

I haven't heard from my friend since....but, something tells me he & his dad get along GREAT now. Such a good story

I have always wondered if cars would register speed in reverse. I guess I was always LOOKING BEHIND ME while I drive in reverse so I never did figure it out. Thanks for the info.
