The factory (add-on) alarm uses the installed horn. There is no way to redirect the arm/disarm function (that I can see going through the shop manual) to do what you want without taking the factory horn out of the picture entirely.

A relay is nothing but mechanical switch that is activated by voltage (simple definition). There is nothing complicated about wiring a relay, however, I'm not sure the end result would be worth the time and effort required to do this. The possibility of defeating the alarm is a real one. You know if you hold the Option and Lock button until the red "activation" light flashes twice puts the alarm in silent mode. The headlights flash when the car is locked so, if you wanted to install this beeper anywhere, that would be where I'd look first. Unlock and the cabin lights come on (I don't remember if the headlights flash or not, but they probably do). That may be your best bet. Personally, I just let it beep (or turn it off if I'm somewhere where the noise may disturb people).

My car has an Audiovox unit wired in that gives a chirp when armed and the horn if it hit the lock twice. Not sure how it was installed and how they got it to work off the OEM remote fob.

that's an aftermarket unit, the OP has the OEM accessory unit (just like I do). Here are the installation instructions (2005 but all are similar).

My 09 does not have the add on/factory alarm installed. That being said, when I use the fob to lock it, I only hear the locks activate and see a flicker of lights. If I activate the lock again in short order (not sure if it is the third time) then the horn sounds with the lights flashing.

Does the alarm option change that progression?
