Seat Belt Squeak?

Just picked up my '09 with 17k miles, and the only interior noise is a constant squeak from where the underside of the seat belt runs through the retaining 'clip' at the top of the seat on the drivers side... every time the seat belt moves slightly through the 'holder', it squeaks... is there a suggestion on how to get the squeak to go away? It's where the underside of the belt meets the plastic retainer on the top, left side of the seat. Thanks in advance!

No useful info from me but I can't wait to hear from everyone else as my 07 does it as well. My interior is absolutely factory tight except for the seatbelt noise. Maybe rub a little silicon on the guide?????

A couple of things you can try. Get some industrial strength velcro. Cut out a couple of small squares of the softer side of the velcro. Attach that in front of the seat belt clip and it should eliminate most/all of the squeak. You can also buy black patch material from a fabric shop and attach that under the seat belt clip. I have tried the velcro but it usually starts falling off in the heat. Good luck!

The easiest solution is to take the belt out of the retaining clip, and place it on top.

You'll see...it works!

No safety issues with that and maybe really short or tall people driving and belt placement?

Otherwise, I was thinking maybe wax or some other substance on the belt where it rubs but that could also gum up the mechanism when it's hot out.

I will have to take a look at it but with your suggestion of wax, I might venture to suggest wax as in paraffin. Warm it up and rub it in. Hot temps should not make it become a mess and it does lubricate. The paraffin I am thinking about is the stuff used for caning.

Yeah, kind of what I was thinking. Something just to take that edge off without compromising safety or putting straps on the belt that could get caught on something. Worth a shot.
