What is this part behind the clutch pedal?

Hello, I have never really examined the pedal area on my car until recently. I noticed there is a part where my clutch pedal arm hits when I press it down all the way and it seems to be deteriorating... like it is soft, "melty" (my finger turns black if I touch it), and I can spin it. What is that black round piece connected to? And is it misaligned?

I also noticed some (probably really old) oil leaks on the wall next to the dead pedal. Is it possible that my cylinder leaked a long time ago just once? the fluids are still full and clean and the carpet is not damp so yea...

Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Before I saw the picture I was going to say ignition interlock, but I think you're just looking at the bump stop.

Not sure where the oil would be coming from; you may want to have a look around the engine bay. If it's brake fluid there will be signs of corroded paint.

So the round black piece (circled in red in the first pic) is just a stopper on the wall for the clutch arm? It's not some mechanical part on the other side?

Also the second picture is of... I'm guessing that's the clutch cylinder? There's black gunk on it... guessing that's not normal :/

Ditto.

After you replace it, I suggest that you want to get under there and give everything a good cleaning. That fluid can be destructive.

I am not sure what the first pic is but it is not a part of the clutch. It looks just like a plug in the firewall.

As for the second pic, that is part of the clutch master cylinder and it is toast. It is part #8 here http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...DER+%28-+03%29 .

Google it and you will find several DIY on it. Pretty common wear part on the S2000, I have done 4 or 5 just for friends around here.
