Here we go, What is the Best GPS unit, phone, to use in the S2000?? I know everything changes every year all the systems get better, but what do you Perfer
I was like my Iphone, but there is a issue with The Man with the Badge
Who uses a standalone unit like tomtom or Garmin, built into radio unit?
cell phone, and cell phone software?
and the best place to put it when in use, and not in use (security)

Stand alone gps are a bit better than a phone. The are geared for that purpose and that alone so the interface and user features are better. Tom Tom is the way to go for me for one big reason: NO commercials or ads. Its the only one who keeps crap from the screen.
Location? Velcro or flex stalk is nice as suction cups leave marks telling thieves what you have in the car. Beenbags may work too but I have not seen them in actual use.
Phones, android (Galaxy) is way ahead of apple at this point. Lots of HU interface well with apps for pandora and phone use.

I still prefer dedicated GPS receivers like the Garmin Nuvi, since my phone eats batteries and I don't like incoming calls interrupting the routing. You can get a Modifry Dash bracket to mount the GPS unit's dock or even your phone.

Another type of dash bracket...

Several people have come up custom mounting methods that make concerns about theft less of an issue.

Someone else created a custom visor mounted GPS receiver...

Another custom mounted phone in the radio door...

And one more radio door mounted GPS receiver...

I'm partial to Garmin. My Cayman has an aftermarket Garmin that replaced the crappy factory radio. I have a portable Garmin that I take with me when I travel for work. Both work well, but I actually prefer the portable - it has lifetime traffic and map updates.
