"XM" Radio Question

I have a 2007 S2000 with a factory installed AM-FM stereo with CD and "XM"
What do I have to do to get that "XM" feature working?

The (overpriced) factory radio is XM "ready". You have to buy the overpriced XM adaptor and the "wart" antenna that mounts on your trunk lid. Here's a link to the OEM adaptor. You can buy a real head unit with XM for less than that price. Go to Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) and look at head-units and decide if you want to spend almost $500 for the OEM adaptor with the crummy OEM radio or if you'd like something about 10000 times better for less money.

I have XM in my new Rogue with traffic and navigation and it's like $12 a month. Kinda steep, but I personally enjoy it as I have some long commutes these days. With the exhaust on my S, I don't think it would be worth it in that car. ???

Why in the world are you paying that much? I only pay $72 for 18 months. Are you paying month by month?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but my system also handles my traffic and Nav setup. My GF and I were actually paying bills this evening and I stopped her from completing the transaction so I could look at the bill a little closer.

It is my understanding that in order to have Nav and Traffic you need the package that they presented. The monthly rate is 12.95/mo and went down slightly if you went 1 year or 3 years.

Please tell me if I'm wrong?

The price is negotiable. I pay for the entire year and when I got my last update bill, I called and said it was too much and I wanted the lower rate. You do much better if you pay in advance for one or three years. Monthly is the most expensive way to go.

Yes, I figured that out, but didn't seem to be that much cheaper and would tie up a larger sum of money over 3 years and who knows how long I'll own this car.

I didn't know you could call them and negotiate with them? Why not?..... great idea! Thanks.
