I want this! Tips?

Came across this ad the other day and shot the guy an email (looked up the directions and Monterey Park is only about 30 mins away from me). Still have yet to hear back from the guy so I sent him another follow up email letting him know that I was a serious buyer and would like to take it off his hands as early as next weekend. Granted it's only been a day since the original email I sent him (but I'm like a kid in a candy store and must have it!) but the guy really left no other way to contact him other than a craigslist email address. Is there anything else I can do other then play the waiting game and pray he responds?

Here it is:

Good luck. I hope it turns out to be as clean as the ad describes and you are able to get into the ride you want soon.

But, um, it's usually good to be patient when buying a car. Easy to say, tough to do. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Thanks all! I suppose patience was the virtue since he eventually emailed me later that night lol, he told me he should still have the car next week and so far it's looking like I may get it as early as next Friday if all goes according to plan. I'll keep you all posted!

^^ I hope it goes well. Are you going to bring someone with you who isn't completely in love with the car already and who can help keep you sane in case it turns out to be not the best deal after all?

Yeah, that is probably the best idea haha, I'll have to have a friend drive me there anyways so I'll ask someone to take me whose opinion I value. Hopefully this won't be the case and I can trust the guy but it's better to be safe than sorry

Its never a bad policy to trust people but bringing a level headed person with you is a good idea. They will help point out things that you might be unententionally ignoring because you are so hot on the idea of getting this car.

It certainly looks like a nice example. The blue top is a nice touch (all cars came standard with a black top). 13K sounds like a reasonable price. These blue on blue ones are kinda love em or hate em but I think they will be increasingly appreciated for being different.

PapaJohn10,

Have the car checked out by shop you trust, it appears the car was taken care of exteriorly, but it's the engine, tranny and diff. that can be expensive to repair.

not my favorite color or color combo. this means nothing in the larger scheme. it is a clean, good-looking car. and, it is an S2000. the price is about right. good luck on contacting your guy and let us know how this turns out.

for the record: your pizza blows.

more for the record:

this is my favorite color

Yeah, that's definitely a good way to look at it. Thank you Marioshi

I won't lie, at first I wasn't too keen on the Suzuka blue models (let alone blue on blue or triple blue) I was originally set on Grand Prix White. But as I did some more research I found that usually the Grand Prix White models (AP2) I was looking for preferably fell well beyond my price range. Eventually I stumbled upon this ad and realized that I shouldn't sweat that kinda stuff too much, I wasn't gonna die if I didn't get an AP2 and that all s2000's are amazing cars. I grew to like the Suzuka blue plus this one fell right into my price range and had the least amount of miles and even further down the road I know I can always repaint it (for a pretty penny lol).

i am quasi-looking for S2000 number 2. a great Suzuka would be fine. your car looks like a good deal. triple blue is ok. i would like a silver, red, yeller or laguuna. i want a stocker that has been taken care of--first and foremost. my personal opinion means nada; ask anybody on here.

however, i stand by my pizza review and my favorite color.

ask jj what he think. i believe he drive a 'zuka sometimes.

All of the S2000 colors are beautiful. I am, of course, partial to mine and purposely sought out yellow in my shopping, but a nicely cared for example is always beautiful regardless of color.

VP is correct. You should consider taking the vehicle in for a pre-purchase inspection if you are serious about it. I favor Santa Monica Honda myself, but there are others who can make recommendations as well. Try s2kca.com and s2ki.com also for additional recommendations on shops in your area. The $100 -$200 you would spend on a pre-purchase inspection is well worth it.

PS Send pizza so I can find out if what BB says is true.

Nice car OP. You are on the right track looking for a well cared for example. IMHO it's better/cheaper to start with a more expensive nice car than it is to restore a neglected car to it's previous glory.

If the car is as nice as the pictures, that's an excellent price in this market, especially this time of year.

I hate to count my chickens before they hatch but I have to agree with Starrman and I'm certainly no engineer lol, so I just ordered this online:
