Spotted: '02 Rio Yellow FS

Spotted an 02 at the dealership down the street (Serpa Dealership - Visalia, CA).

I checked it out - Looks very nice on the outside and in. I didn't take it for a drive, just asked a few questions. I did notice it has a little LED blinky near the e-brake. Maybe aftermarket alarm installed?

~42k miles, they are asking $14,9.

Sounds like a reasonable price...you can talk them down some? The blinky is not standard or at least on my 03, sounds like an aftermarket alarm.

Yeah, you can usually safely bet on getting another grand off the asking price.

I just bought an 02 though, so I'm not in the market for another....yet. I am considering buying another S or similar so I can have one to track and one for DD.

Just wanted to post a nice S I saw if anyone in the area is looking to buy.

The red led near the parking brake is the Honda alarm put on usually by the dealership. Mine came with it, I am the second owner so I did not have it put in. If you look under the dash near the stearing wheel there is also a dis-arm button for the system when you use the valet key. (At least I beleive that is what the button is for).

Many aftermarket alarms mounted the red or blue light at the E brake factory position, both of my S2000s have it in this location. It would be foolish to assume it was a factory alarm. Know what I mean?

You have to take location in consideration. I'm sure if you take two identical convertibles and sell on in CA and the other here in the NE, the one in CA would fetch more.

But that's a dealer for you. It's not getting hosed, it's paying 'retail'. I see dealers here in Oregon ask $20k for low mileage mint AP1's. I think that $15k was pretty fair market value from a dealer. Here's almost an identical car locally for nearly the same price(slightly higher miles, slightly lower price).

http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/ctd/2781249802.html

And here's one like I mentioned, almost the same car with a few less miles for $20k!!!

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ctd/2781947472.html

Just because you found a good deal(and I did too) doesn't mean that everybody will find one. I had to drive a long way to get my car, which is why I got the deal. Nobody was willing to drive five hours into the country to look at the car. That was 'working' for the deal. And some people just fall into good deals. You can't use the lowest price paid for a nice S2000 as the value to judge all cars by IMHO.

Ya, I'm just surprised that he didn't get them to knock off a little bit. I usually expect to pay less out the door than the asking price, not pile expenses on top! But sometimes dealers mark a car down to get people in the door and then don't budge on the price, this I know...

This, plus cars out of the "rust belt" command higher prices given the same mileage, etc.

Very nice find la-s2k, the pearl in that Rio paint can really "pop" if you spend some time with a random orbital, pads and polish.

Not in California. Add roughly 10% for OTD (could be more because its based on your local sales tax). So he paid around 13,500. He got them down about 9% down on price. Thats not bad. I would be happy with that deal.

I had 15k out the door but with everything in it. Had warranty in it and lots of accessories for my s2k I love it and I found the glove department when I had my old 05 s2k. I ran an EK hatch with type R fully built Nd tune by a car and a half with my bone stock. I was surprise my s2000 would take it

That sounds like a decent price. I just bought my wife one from Washington State heading to GA by enclosed carrier. I paid a lot more for my 02, but it is far from stock. It is tastfully done in my opinion. Hopefully it gets here on time (it's a surprise).
