Style vs. Function

How functional do you think the Honda accessory wing is? The dealer put on this one instead of the CR wing I wanted. I'm getting used to it. Does anyone think I should switch to the CR wing? I'm hesitant to do it because the holes that will be in my trunk lid. The CR front lip is already on. Opinions?

No offense, but I prefer something VERY minimal, like one of the lip spoilers if anything at all...

I don't think either is very functional unless you go to the track. Then the CR wing will help some, but without the front air dam, you may just be lifting the front end and letting more air underneath.

As for the OEM wings (AP1 and AP2), they look good and that's about it.

I do have the CR front air dam on. I don't go to the track, mostly canyon carving. I would've just went with the CR but I like the power soft top, the red color, and the leather. If there would have been a hp increase I would have bought the CR and changed the seats, but the engine is the same, so I'm going to just make a pseudo-CR by changing the suspension parts and whatever else. I wonder why Honda didn't opt to put a different engine in the CR?

Maybe the same engine but with a hp bump... maybe FI on a different engine? I kind of see it like the b18 on the Integras. The Type R had a pretty signifigant hp increase. Do you think Honda rang every last ounce of hp out of the f22? Or maybe it would have been cool to bring an enhanced version of the f20 back for the one model. Kind of like a nod to the original before they stop production of the S. I didn't think the weight savings were that signifigant on the CR to give up my leather and power top. I do love the looks of the CR, however.

I'd trade trunk lids with you cuz I have an '01 NFR and I want the wing spoiler. Then you can get the CR spoiler. But then again why would you want a 7 year old trunk lid when you have a new one.

The true purpose of a rear wing or spoiler is to provide downforce to get the car to stick to the track at HIGH speeds. It actually creates drag and, at lower speeds (legal speeds), does more harm than good. But some of them look cool!

Took some more crappy phone pics with the CR front lip on. I'm not sure about the Honda OEM accessory wing in combination with the lip. One thing I'm sure I don't like is the light colored weatherstripping rubber seal thing that came on the lip because I got it in white. Anybody know of anywhere to get this rubber seal in black? No one else seems to notice but it bugs me everytime I look at it!

Anyway, future mods will include Volks wheels, black chrome Honda emblems, OEM side strakes, suspension mods...etc. Plan on leaving the engine stock for at least a year before going FI. I'm trying to get ahold of some AP2v1 wheels to powdercoat dark bronze for my extra set.

Any opinions?

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. Maybe I should switch the front lip to the OEM one... I'm not sure yet. Or maybe an aftermarket wing... I don't know. It does seem off balance to me too. Thanks for the input.

i don't know, man. i like the simple looks of a naked rear end. the back of the stewie with no wing is nice too!

Srsly, try it without a wing and see what you think. it's hard to look at the front and back of a car at the same time, so you might not find it out of place.

as for the whiteish stripping, i kinda dig it.

I have a CF CR spoiler, I love it. Contrasts my white well to make it look a bit more aggressive.

No, I bought a regular S. I originally wanted the CR but I opted not to get it because I wanted the leather and NFR color, and I don't track my car anyway; why buy a track-ready car? The CR doesn't come in red. So, I got the regular model and planned on getting all the CR parts and putting them on. I brought it to the dealer to install the CR wing (repainted in red) but they installed the OEM accesory wing instead. Rather then install the CR wing and repair the holes in my trunklid, I just left it on and put on the CR front lip. Maybe I'll look into buying a CR wing in awhile.
Yeah lonestar, I'm getting used to the light-colored striping, it's not so bad.
Just ordered a set of 18" Work VS XX in gold; hey Rizzo with the Spa Yellow '07, we'll talk about my stockers when my Works come in!
