Hey Check this out I took off the cat and bought one of the extensions and it doesn't work. Any ideas if you can trick the PCM to think there is a cat? I heard the resistor trick doesn't work either. Next question any harm in driving it with the light on?

Yea Dave I have the extension in there already but the CEL is still on. I was wondering if someone knows of a unit to plug into the O2 socket that will help.

For one thing, you won't pass smog.

if u have the extension in already add another and if that don't work add some steel wool in the un-drilled extension. If u have any question please ask I pride myself on getting one over on those GD tree hugging hippies. just remember don't drill the non fouler plug that goes into the TP or cat

by the way my name is danny

What year is yours Chaz and how long of an extension is in there? You might need to extend it farther out to make it go away if the CEL stays on.

uh, yes you will.

most states dont do visuals, the inspectors are too lazy and in a hurry so they just plug the car in and go from there.

even at the "car spa" place i took mine to that hassled me over tint being within 3% of legal (which is ok, up to 3% error is taken into account) and wouldnt pass me because of it, he never even attempted to look under the car.

That could be it. I had to set my AFC up a couple times(when I had it) cause it kept throwing a CEL for the vtec signal even though i had it turned on.

I had to stack 3 18mm spark plug defoulers on my O2 sensor to get the CEL to stay off. 2 wasn't enough.

I have had no problems with the NEO and a Cat, but I think that the NEO might have made the cat go bad to begin with. If push comes to shove and the PO420 code comes back is there any harm to the engine to drive it like that?

No harm with driving it like that. But if a new problem arises, you won't know since you'll be used to seeing the light on.

I went out an got a cheap OBD2 code reader to keep in the car. I guess I'l check the codes once a week. At this point I'm thinking about putting the cat back on.

Actually, EPA doesn't mandate catalytic converters. If Honda could certify emissions standards without them (possible but very expensive) it's perfectly legal. Converters are just the cheapest way to do it. However, once the vehicle is certified with them, they'd have to go through the whole testing program again to recertify with a different technology.

OK i have to jack this thread cause i have to ask a question. what would the worse possible outcome of not having an O2 sensor in the s2k. my lead O2 blew out of the bong a couple weeks ago and it took all of the threads with it so i can't put one in when i can afford one. i ask whats the worst cause my S2K is cursed.

at best? the engine is in limp home mode making like 50hp.
at worst? severe engine damage since the engine cannot accurately measure the a/f ratio.

how the hell do you manage to do that, though, did you hit something?

I've heard there really isn't much to gain from removing the cat. Certainly not worth the headache. Now when the cat finally dies, I'd look into CEL fixes & such, because new cats are more expensive than having a plumber in your house

Hey how can I make flames shoot out my exhaust pipes??? Saw it happen on a 911 a few weeks ago, and it was the coolest thing. Probably not possible on the front-engined Stewie.

I would certainly never stoop to that level of intentionally installing one of those "flame-thrower" kits....but on this 911 I saw, it looked like a split second of an F-14 in zone 5 burner. Pretty neat. It happened when he shifted...I guess he was running a bit rich somehow.

Sorry for the Navy jibberish...
