Timing chain change costs

Hi All

This is my first post so I hope it's worth while.

So I have the dreaded TCT problem on my engine. I've given it to a local garage and they've quotes me 1700 to repair. (1000 in parts alone)

Is this right, would there be any possibility that more parts need changing.
They seem to think from Honda guidance to replace a whole load of other stuff.

Thanks in advance.

What the hell are they quoting for that kind of money???

That is like $2700, you can get a TCT new for like $125 here in the states and it takes about 10 minutes to install, do a google search for a DYI.

Do you have the quote? What does it say?

The quote was based on changing the chain, runners and gaskets.

I've just given the the go ahead for the change as I have no real idea what I'm looking at but they said it was advisable to have all those changes done at the same time.

Thats too bad. You are going to spend a lot of money that you did not need to. Its not that hard to do it yourself. The chain does not need to be replaced. It opens the door that they are going to screw something up during the job. If they replace the TCT with a OEM part, you are going to need to do the job sometime in the future.
