The Puffo-intake is now for sale

After a lot of fuss on the other forum the Puffo is now for sale, I think I'd wait for the thing to be put on a dyno(or track) to see what the numbers are but overseas they like it and say most get around 13 HP from this intake(on a AP1).

I Pm'd him about price. Doesn't look good. But who cares as long as it performs.

I googled it and found "The puffo basically collects the "rejected" air from the radiator, which is normally deviated inside the engine bay and shoots it, at maximum volume, straight to the air filter." on trackjunkies.com. I gather it's a ram air type system?

The name puffo is terrible and its ugly and expensive, 309 shipped. Curious about dyno gains, one mans experience switching from another aftermarket intake does not a power gain make.

There was a 20+ something page thread on the other site before it got axed. They had five or more dyno charts that all showed 10+ HP gain. I did not read any post(not one) that said it did not make HP but this was all on the 2L engine.

I would still like to see what type of numbers it would make out on the track at speed.

It would be cool if it did make those numbers. For the money you'd think it would look cooler.....

puffo is smurf in italian.

puffo backwards is off up.

anagrammatically puffo is pouff.

there you have it.

get up off your blue smurf ***! pouff!

i would think this thing would make about 100 hp.

+1
...price IS a little high, specially with how it looks... however, if it does make the numbers it may be worth it.

Hey guys, a friend forwarded me this topic that I, apparently, missed.

I am responsible for the manufacture and sale of the Puffo Intake in the US.

Your comments are funny, I agree that in pictures it does not look "cool" as other intakes but the feedback I got from some customers is that "actually does not look bad at all in person".

Oh well, the important is that it works and so far I have received only one complain and it was due to wrong install. After I spent 3 minutes on the phone with him we understood the problem and his puffo now works just fine.

I understand you guys are skeptical, knowing Honda engines and how hard (and expensive) it is to squeeze out power, I would be too.
But this intake works and has the best hp/$ ratio you can find. And you can go back to OEM in 10 minutes, it even uses the OEM air filter!

Anyhow, if you have any question let me know. I have a coupel of them ready to ship out.

Cheers!

Nice gains there. I suppose one could get used to the look of it.

In the end it did not work with the S2kchallenge guy, too far away from each other (CA-TX).

I am working with this guy who runs TTA in NASA

http://vimeo.com/53374047

The S is a 06, soon he is going to dyno the Puffo without and with the tune.
Since you are in Texas let me know and I can let you try mine!

And here I have a first test from a reputable tester (Gernby on the other forum) showing good gains.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...psbae5ff96.jpg

The result is very conservative, as he tested the intake without a OEM filter (he used an old KN instead) and without a cooling plate.

Total HP gain seen was +6RWHP, most likely we can get to at least +10RWHP.

Well now, this is a nice review!! From a AP2 owner comparing it to the OEM intake.

"I would say without the ecu reset I felt the power in the higher end. With the ecu reset, the power is better across all RPMs. For the money, it is well worth it. I can see that it would do wonders if someone had the hondata flash. My first few days driving the car after installing the puffo I kept hitting the redline because it was ripping from through vtec from 6.2 to 8.5 quicker than I have ever experienced."

After one year we are back with the best intakes on the market, giving you great gains and no pain!

More than +10whp on average with a high of +13whp! Now the puffo intake is available in 2 versions - Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass. They both come with a cover to hold the filter in place.

Here you can see some updated pictures

My radio door is stock Al. I did not see the one in the pic which must be a mod. I was referring to the center cap of the steering wheel--is it carbon fiber?

kg would know if the CR came with a carbon fiber radio door. Could you even get a radi0 in a CR?

The radio door is aluminum with a carbon fiber pattern overlay. You could get a CR with no radio and AC (the Delete model) or, like mine with both radio and AC. And the center cap isn't carbon fiber.

Wanna bet that the gains are real?

This guy in the link below is breaking records left and right in the NASA TTB class! I don't think that he would have run the Puffo Intake for the past year and a half if it wasn't working.

What intake system are you using now?

Happy new year fellas!

There are 2 versions, carbon fiber and fiberglass. They both produce the same gains, minimum 7whp and maximum 13whp - untuned. The carbon fiber is about 20% lighter.

You can see pictures at our page below.
