"Clicking" noise on starting roll/turns/reverse

hear a single "click coming from what sounds like the rear or poss wheels/drive axle/diff of my ap1. have not been able to isolate it. It sounds OK other than this single click. I am new to this car but familiar with various noises as I also have an 07 ap2 that I have owned since it was new. Can anyone speculate as to a possible origin of this noise or what to check? I am afraid it might be signaling a future problem. The car sat for a long time, (almost 3yrs) so anything is possible. I have driven it now for a month and the sound does not get worse but is still present. Thought of brake calipers and ruled that out

My first thought would have been the calipers, when do you hear it?

hear this on clutch release going forward or reverse but not related to transmission or clutch. definetly coming fronm the rear. Discovered yesterday when I put new tires on that a rear rim was slightly bent. Now thinking it might be a drive axle but so far no other symptoms have evolved.

differential checked out when I changed the oil with Royal Purple. It sounds fine. Are there universal joints that might do this? I do not hear a clank when the clutch engages

If the click is audible especially when backing I would say rear axle nut(s). Let me see if i can find you a post on how to DIY rather than me give a lengthy post.

Found it.

That link with pictures was incredably helpful and makes sense. I am going to check it out today and will get back....that sounds like it might be the problem. Also will be looking for one replacement rim. If I remember from my past there are places that straighten & true out rims..may check on that. Thanks for the helpful post vanishing point.
