I recently bought a 2000 S2k and its Great! Now i am thinking to buy an aftermarket intake and headers to go along with it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks again.

Before you consider an intake, do a search for hydro-lock. Being your in Miami water is your enemy so choose wisely. As for headers, unless you replace the entire exhaust system as well you will see minimal hp increases. Your far better, and cheaper option, is to lighten your car as much as possible.

I am looking for mainly more HP gain than sound, However sound will be a plus. Also not looking for cheap way of doing things. I really like the car and want good quality brands for a reasonable price.

Thanks

I doubt you will even gain 10hp, your just going to gain some sound save your money for some boost if you really want power. Its really the only way on an s2k

Ok. In that case would getting an aftermarket exhaust make a bigger difference? The only reason why i didnt mention exhaust was because i dont want to have oversized muffler tips with a noisy engine.. If i could find some nice sized tips and a nice sounding exhaust that would be perfect for me. Again im more concerned with quality and not price so please any suggestions i definetely will consider.

Thanks again for all of the replies.

BBD, do you do much highway driving? If not, a new ring & pinion will definitely give you what you're looking for (at a fraction of the price of FI).

What exactly does the ring and pinion do? Any repercussions? Im sort of new to all of the engine parts and accessories.

Thanks

BBD, a numerically higher ratio in the rear differential will allow you to accelerate faster, at the cost of fuel economy and top speed. You're basically just putting more torque to the ground. If you've ever ridden a multi-speed bicycle, you know exactly what I'm taking about.

Here's a thread that discusses it more in-depth.

Im asking santa for horsepower this year in the form of stickers. Everyone knows stickers add real noticable power AND they fit in your stocking!

If you're looking for power, the first 1.5k should be spent on a testpipe, kpro/ems/haltech, and a tune.

The next dollars is best spent on an exhaust with tune.

All the above will be highly beneficial and unwasted money should u decide you want a supercharger or turbo.

You could Expect up to 20whp from a testpipe and tune (70mm+ exhaust might help a lot too) between 4k to 6k

Unless you spend atleast 1k or more, you will be wasting money on headers that give you 4-5hp for like 6-700 dollars. I would spend that money towards an exhaust.

As far as intake go, usually the popular ones are the AEM V2, K&N FIPK, or the Comptech. All give about the same gains. The V2 could cause hydrolock if you go through a big puddle. The rest is just looks and preference to sound. Again unless you spend 900 for a password JDM intake, your gains are in the 7-9hp range.

The real question you want to ask yourself is... whats the plan for the car? are you staying NA or going force induction. If force induction is your goal, than i would save the money on the headers and intake and buy a used supercharger for 2200-2500.
