newb with unfindable question

Hello, this is the first time posting on a forum so please forgive. I do not currently have an s2k but have been searching for one for a while. I found one, but i dont have much info on the engine problem but here is what he told me.

It starts normaly with no problem and you can rev the engine while in neutral but as soon as you put the car in gear you cant go much above 3-4k rpm's due to loss of power. he said that there is a knocking sound but im not sure if he said it upon startup or once in gear. I have a 2001 Lexus IS300 with 186,500 miles and a leaking head gasket. If i change the head gasket would it be worth a trade? he has a full megan exhaust with test pipe and it is lowered. he had it set up for drifting.
Thanks.

That S2k is in limp mode (power cuts off above 3k so that you don't finish the job of destroying the engine that he started). Knocking sounds are never good. Do not hesitate, do not walk, RUN away from this. You'd be better off putting a head gasket in your car and saving to buy a car that hasn't been abused.

One man's junk is another man's junk in this case. Keep lookin'. BTW, the S2000 is not a good drift car so if he was doing that, he probably beat the crap out of it.

Being Hondas these things do not have to be coddled to endure.

Anyone who can damage one has worked pretty hard. Imagine what else wrong.

Plenty of good values out there to be found with patience.

Being its a honda lol. Ya these cars dont have any known issues no spark plug failure that trash the motor, the occasional rod that shoots out the side of the block for no real reason, tct's getting noisy, soft tops tearing prematurely, axle issues, shifters getting stuck in the reverse lockout, trouble getting into 5th when the car has sat for a long period of time shall I continue? Glad to see you know the ins and outs of our car and issues that people have had. All cars have problems even if its a honda.

They are normally pretty reliable cars the question is can you determine why the damage happened and is the price right where it makes sense for you to repair it.

my guess is one of two things berings maybe or piston slap (less likely). the noise your hearing is probably there when you rev it in neutral it's just not very loud, when you put the engine under load it puts more stress on the crank shaft and more than likely its a bearing on the shaft to the block not the shaft to the rods. If it were the shaft to rods the noise would more than likely be constant regaurdless of engine load. thats my guess.

If its piston slap youll be putting out smoke from the exhaust (the rings have blown out if thats the case) as i said before less likely. really we need to hear the noise to help out better.

Are you kidding ?

In that case, perhaps you could find and solve consequences, or luckier causes, but it will never tell every invisible injuries that occured in the past, with this bad using...
WTF he just don't want at all an abused S2K, the sailer has to deal with his own c...t.

At the end of your big restroom work, will you pay for used toilet paper ?
