The Magnaflow fix

Some of you guys may remember that I got a new exhaust of my choice for Christmas. I choice the Magnaflow because of its price and rep. for high quality. The quality and sound is great, its fit...not so good, Other people from the forum have had the same problem. After several hours of adjusting this and moving that I gave up and decided to take a more aggressive approach to the problem. So here is what I did. I took it too a muffler shop and 30 mins and $100 later a perfect fit. The tips dont stick out too far and they exit straight as an arrow. So now I am very happy with my "not too loud and not too quite" exhaust. Total cost $755. Not too bad. The guy at the muffler shop told me to let everyone know that a good muffler shop could build that system using the same muffles and tips with a better fit then I have for about $600.

I will see if I can figure out how to do that and post it to youtube. Also I made a mistake on the final price. The exhaust system cost $638,(not $655), and with the retrofitting cost of $100. The grand total is (drum roll) $738!!!!

I guess I should tell you guys what they did to fix the fit problem. They removed the pipes from right behind the "Y" to 1" from both mufflers. Moved both Mufflers forward and straight and replaced both pipes. No extra bends just longer straight runs going to the mufflers and shorter runs after the bend right in front of the muffler. They then removed and relocated all the hangers. This is something that Magnaflow should have done. It was that clean and simple.

Here is the link to a short vid of the sound of the magnaflow exhaust. The sound quality is not that great due to the camera. It sounds deeper and louder the the video sounds.

I have had several PMs and emails from people asking me if what I had done to my Magnaflow exhaust really worked. All I can say is... Yes it did. And it really only took the guy about 10 mins to study the problem and 30 mins to make the changes.
