Ap1 vs ap2

I'm looking for an S2000, I know they are about the same speed but when I drive them the ap1 feels a lot faster (don't really feel the vtec on the ap2)

Does anyone know why?

They accelerate differently due to different gear ratios and slightly different torque curves. I think the AP1 is a little more exciting because you spend more time in vtec in each gear.

You already have both, right? In previous posts you state you have an ap2 and a 2001.

I need to replace my convertible top on my Ap2. Any suggestions on which to get? Does the top come with the latches?

I just bought a 2001 s2000, have questions please help. Thanks

I'm smelling something....

you should certainly feel the v-tec in the ap2. if you don't, there could be a number of reasons for the v-tec to fail. take it through it's paces in 3rd and 4th gears. at about 6000 rpm you will feel like a 4 barrel cut in (if you are old enough to remember what a 4-barrel is). if it fails to cut in let us know and you will be amazed at what you may learn from all the members who just wait for problems to solve.

Honda has made over 15 million vtec systems and not a single one has every failed.

I have an AP2 and you feel vtec fine, as well as a nice change in exhaust at WOT. The difference is your in vtec 3000 revs in AP1 and only 2000 in AP2.

To feel and hear VTEC, just WOT the S2k inside a tunnel. All doubts removed.

I never have a doubt when VTEC hits. The best is 30 mph rolls in first. It revs to about 6000 rpm but no VTEC. As soon as you go WOT VTEC hits and the acceleration is amazing.

Why is this thread in the forum it's in?

I don't think this has anything to do with site problems, etc.

Just wonderin'

Jon

It's there because of AP1 problems...feelings of inadequacy, et al.

It's been too quiet here lately, plus we've gotten rid of all the bad eggs, plus was checking for a heartbeat (not sure if the patient will make it), plus don't know if anyone even cares any longer, plus.....(and the list goes on)

Btw, I think it the mods duty to create some threads that generate some type of back and forth conversation (that's what the mods do on the M3 forum) so they earn those fat moderator pay checks they've been pulling in.

yes they do

I have drivin multiple s2's and found the ap1's sound and feel more exciting but are not faster than ap2's, I would say there very close but the 06 up ap2's feel more refined. I own the best year IMO
