probably ok. i got 3000 pound jackstands from harbor freight. they do look flimsy, but as long as they don't collapse. as i recall, it is the pair of jackstands that is rated at 3000 pounds and it is not recommended that you ever use just one jackstand by itself. i prefer 4 jackstands. lift the front and then the rear, with the car in gear and the e-brake applied. i would not ever raise the rear alone unless i was absolutely sure the front was secure. i prefer to raise the front and then the rear if i need to raise the rear. i always like to add another layer of protection by putting something under a tire or the frame to support the car in case of a failure. i will put my fat **** under a car on stands but i am never completely comfortable with it. personal opinion is that you should get 4 rather than 2.

We are the largest manufacturer of hydraulic jacks and tool boxes in the world. The Torin factory in Changshu, China encompasses 106,400 square meters with a 138,000 square meter addition planned for 2006.Torin recently moved into a brand new 100,000 square foot facility in Ontario, California.

I have an older pair of 3.5 ton steel jack stands that have been in continuous use for 15 years (keep a trailer off the ground) that is going to round out the jack stand team for me. I intend to use the mix of 4 jack stands and use the jack on the front center (engine) jack point to add some redundacy as I attack the trainie and diff. Will probably add some wood backup too, maybe a spare tire, as I just heard of a colleague of mine who was crushed when he torqued a bit to hard on his shocks and the car (not an S) fell off his 4 jackstands. I like the Torin engineering better but the base is not as large as other footprints. Is it unstable? Does it really matter if you give the beast a good shake before getting under?
