Question eibach or Tanabe Springs ?

I am looking into lowering my s2 about an 1" which spring is better for all around Driving Comfort with occasional spirited driving ? I am looking at the eibach, Tanabe or Tien-S springs.

The eibach pro kit are good springs for subtle 1" drop and close to stock feel

I would never buy anything Tanabe makes. Just my opinion.

Well, when you say "all around driving comfort, with occasional spirited driving"....I'd have to say the springs Honda used will work best!

But that's just my opinion, which is highly biased because I do too much city driving to even considering lowering it. I would say Eibach is a better name than Tanabe, just from what I've heard or read.

I have the Eibach Pro kit and love it.

I also have the Tanabe Concept G, it's great product and one of the best designed and constructed exhaust systems that I have seen. Tanabe is a reputable brand. I have been running a Tanabe Concept G on my 2006 Si for 3 years and on my 2008 S2000 for 1 year with absolutely no problems.

edit: no problems, other than the drool people leave on my trunk lid when they see and hear my exhaust...

I don't know too much about Honda's, I used the Eibach to lower a 03' model Mustang . There is so much out there for Honda's, Its mind boggling !

I love my S-Tech's and found ride quality much improved.

Don't buy Tanabe, they are bouncy as Sh*t.

Glad I got the Eibach's in that case. I was looking at the Tanabe springs, but the Eibach was a slightly lower drop (.8" vs 1.0"), so I went with them.

Timely thread for me. After replacing my stock AP1 rims with AP2's, the fender gap seems so much more noticable with the 17" rims. So was thinking of dropping the car a bit.

I have some driveway issues, so 1" is max. Might prefer a little less. But even more importantly, can anyone speak to the ride quality with each of the spring models? Do Eibach's provide a more comfortable ride than the others? I don't want racing springs. Just want the car to sit a little lower.

I got the eibachs and love them, ride is similar to stock since they are a progressive rate spring.

Go with the Eibachs. The ride is better than stock, in my opinion, if you also get the Koni shocks.

Koni's would be nice but I'm on a bit of a budget, $700 Shocks + $200 srings, For that much I could have some coilovers.

Well Coilover's are crap unless you have the ones with the dampers!
The coilover's that go on your stock shock's are really horrible...
I would go with Koni yellow's....but as you said...a bit pricey!
But coilover's are really stiff and are more track inspired...not very fun on the road!
In my opinion you can never go wrong with Tien S....They feel soo smooth and nice, yet when you get aggressive they answer back with a nice stiff feeling, so Tien S is great!

I run Tien S on a 05 Scion Tc, and it's amazing!
I had them on a 98 Eclipse GS-t and they were nice!
I also have a 00 Prelude with H&R springs and koni yellow's, the koni's are nice! (the H&R springs are like a 2.3" drop O.O)

Verdict....Tien-S is really nice from my experience!
But Eibach is a good name, and all I hear is good from them...
But personally, my setup would be Tien S-Tech's, with Koni Yellow's....but then again I'm a track liking guy, So I would probably have the HKS Coil's....

Yeah...now I'm just talking to much! my bad!

I had megan springs on my s2k and I loved them. I used Tanabe springs on my past couple cars and loved them. Do a little research and decide for yourself. Eibach is good, but do what u want, not what anyone else does.

Question? With a 1" drop do I need to get an alignment kit or will the stock adjustments be OK?

So did you have to buy a camber kit to align it?

no Chaz no camber kit for a 1 inch drop. I have espiliers they drop your car more than 1" and I have no problem with wheel alignment. I had koni yellows with espilier springs and that felt great but I sold them and am saving for bilstein PSS9 coilovers the PSS9s have a very soft and smooth ride great for a daily driver and fine on a canyon run or track day.

What do you think of this?

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/pts/1490423524.html

If I get them, I will have a set of Eibach pro's to sell. They are in a box in my trunk. I bought them a few weeks ago used. Have <3k miles on them. I bought them, then got cold feet about installing them. I have a steep driveway and got worried about whether the new springs might drop it too far to clear. Coilovers will give me some flexibility in that regard.

If you are worried about a 1" drop from the Eibach's, then what's the point of getting coilovers? Why bother with a 1/2" drop or even 3/4" drop? The S has such horrific wheel gap in stock form that you need at least a 1" drop to make it look better. Don't forget that every time you adjust your coilovers, you should get an alignment.

Was wondering if the S was dropped an inch would the drive shaft spacers be a necessary item to buy?

When I had my 02 Accord I had it lowered on Eibach's and they were really nice looked aggressive with my 18" Momo RPM wheels!

That is a good point. The thing is, I don't really know for sure how far down I can go. Eyeballing it, looks like an inch maybe. If I installed the Eibach's and it didn't make it, I'd be down $400 ($200 each way) to return to stock.

With the coilovers, I assume I can dial it in, then get the alignment. And in the end, I will have coilovers, rather than simply shorter springs.

I dunno. I should fix the bloody driveway slope!

Also, the seller says he does not have the adjustment tool, but says it can be done by hand. Anyone know if this is an issue?
