Pocket Bikes....questions...

Ok so out of shear boredom my brother and I have thought about buying a couple of Pocket Bikes... you know the little wanna be sport bikes. Just to have something to race the hell out of. We figured id be cheap to get into but have no knowledge what so ever on these things. So if any you guys got any experience with these things sound off. Any info of where to start to even look would be cool. Or if this whole idea is just stupid... cause it really sounds like it which might be the reason why its attractive in a weird sorta way.

I thought you were going to ask "What's the point?" That's usually my question about them.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

yeah thats kinda what this is... it might fit into that category of buying a air horn for the S or a P.A. system to annoy people on the road. Lord knows what else. Maybe im stuck in a stupid spell atm and it will soon pass....

I am rather interested... how reliable are they? Are they worth the money? Or do I have to spend a whole couple grand to get anything worth while?

Buy mopeds, faster and street legal for near the same price. Save some money on gas too. I put 2,000 miles on my Ruckus this summer, would have put <50 on a pocket bike.

my brother and i bought 2 for $500, i forgot the site, but they topped out at 35mph and were a blast, pretty reliable to. They were a bit of a hastle to start though. you also want to make sure you have more than one so you can ride with friends, cause by themselves they are not to much fun.

Ya its an idea for me and my brother really. We have always wanted to race... I have seen reviews for certain sites where people are always having issues with them. So Im being a bit careful.

Like some of you guys said save your money... that thought is stuck in my head as well. Im trying to talk myself into one... but it aint lookin none to good.

My Ruck, goes ~48-50 now and gets ~100 MPG. I've gone on a few 150+ mile trips (each way) this summer (Traverse City, Torch Lake, etc.) with friends on their mopeds (back roads, no directions, checking where I am on my iphone every few hours). It's one of the most fun "toys" I've ever owned (and I've owned pocket bikes, mini bikes, etc.). Rock solid reliable too (water cooled 4 stroke). Riding pocket bikes around neighborhood streets and parking lots isn't nearly as fun as the open road. Unless of course you're going to be doing closed course racing.

Unfortuanately I was never able to get one, had to pay more towards college at the time and ended up buying a new sportbike instead.

I would try http://www.gianniniracing.com/ the guy that posted that website is one of the top guys at gixxer.com and is very knowledgeable
