You don't know who had the car before you. Might have been a street racer who didn't check the oil. Or, downshifted to 2nd instead of 4th which can do a lot of damage that shows up later. Good luck with the dealer.

I have heard that the ECM can be diagnosed and indicate whether or not the engine has been over revved. It is said that when coded properly the date and time of the over rev will be revealed. You may be able prove you case.

Good luck.
But just so you know... clicking, grinding, screaming... any engine noise that "goes away when it warms up" is almost definitely a HUGE deal. Obviously more huge if it DOESN'T go away. If I had to bet a dollar, I'd say sludge build-up was the original issue. You weren't getting flow to all the places the oil needed to be... especially while the sludge was still cool. |
