By the time i'd found a petrol station I must have travelled over 40miles...

And no, I don't use metric measurements for fuel efficiency. Many of the UK guys have got over 35mpg and I believe one has reported over 400 miles from a tank!!!
You need to be careful about slip streaming lorries, while the fuel pressure does decrease, the intake air temperature will go up dramatically.

Thats all he runs and it fits his driving style. So if I was him I would think they would fit me too.

Just not my driving style I push the car to its limits.

i push my car to the limits on mountain roads and its happened many times where they lose grip and im facing the other side of traffic. im waiting for these stupid tires to finish up as an excuse to get new ones. im screwing with them and there still a good 30 percent tread.

I'm sorry...but there is no way I'm believing someone got 400 miles from a single, stock-sized tank. I can push 310 if I do mostly highway, but that takes a lot of effort, and is pretty much running on vapors towards the end. With normal, everyday driving, I usually get about 240 miles per tank, give or take a few.

Sorry guys. They've been great for me but I guess I must be a wuss in the twisties compared to you guys. I've hit them hard IMO and they've stuck great. The one thing I notice is that if I'm taking off hard in a corner they feel mushy. But in the mountain twisties I've never felt that they were crap. They're a helluva lot better that the Cooper Zeons that came on the car. I guess I'll have to upgrade when I get my new set of hoops and see what good tires feel like.

Sorry, but I have an 07 and if I set the cruise control at 70 and have light traffic on a long trip I get 35 miles per gallon. My son has an 01 with 80,000 miles and he gets 30-32 on long trips.

I fill up when my gas light kicks on which is roughly 10.5 gallons, and has generally been 260-285 miles or so.

30.3 mpg * 13.2 gallons = 400 miles

if you get more than 30.3 mpg it is possible. i have never done it.

Was anyone actually considering mileage when they bought this car? I sure wasn't. I just find it interesting that it does better than advertised.

Could it be when you purchased the car, the fuel injectors have been upgraded to a larger size? or the fuel pressure controller is out of tune?

Also for economy keep the engine slightly over 2000 rpm up to 2500 rpm, and it will yield the greatest economy for you.

Actually yes, my list was as follows (not necessarily in order of importance):

1. 0-60 miles per hour
2. Skid pad G's
3. Braking time
4. Mileage estimate
5. Price
6. Top End
7. Looks

No one I know wants to give the middle Eastern nasties any more money to murder us with so mileage is important. Very few high performance cars can match the S2000 for mileage (at average 22 MPG).

Maybe it's time to consider the infamous Bell curve and admit there will be some variation in mileage and one in one hundred cars is going to kick butt in mileage.

Maybe it's time to admit that some of us have failed to reset the trip odometer a time or two when calculating mileage.

The mileage you get is more related to the type of driving you do. My car gets 26 mpg when driving 100 miles per hour steady state. I filled it up after 55 miles to dilute the remaining 91 octane CA gas in the tank. I had been driving 2 miles each way in cool weather for the past week and got just over 13 mpg. When living in Hayward I did a mixture of highway and traffic jams and was getting 17 mpg. All of these trips were without Vtec.

I wish I got 23.94 mpg. I'm averaging 21 - 22. I'll hit 24 if I get some freeway miles under my belt and up to 27 if I'm over 75% freeway. I'd really have to granny it to get 30.

I realize that I didn't buy this car for fuel economy but it's nice to have to fill up at 275 miles as opposed to 225 miles.
